Calling on your inner Warrior Woman

Have you ever experienced resistance to do the things that you know will create inner peace, vibrant health, grow your business or bring you one step closer to your dream life?

Often as we approach our power, our life’s purpose & passion, and the path to our ultimate fulfillment, we face who my mom calls, our inner “doubter.” This doubter is uglier than that, it can come in many shapes, sizes and voices and it will give you every excuse possible why you shouldn’t do your daily meditation, workout, or whatever your ingredients for wellness are. It will also manifest in the form of procrastination with tasks that will grow your business, or stop you from leaping out of golden handcuffs and into a career that you love.

In order to fulfill our dreams and manifest our heart’s desires, we must call on our inner Warrior Woman to help us persevere, fight the daily battle of doing what we know is right for us, and find the strength to break free from self-defeating habits.

Stephen Pressfield documents this human phenomenon of resistance so well! He writes,

“The most pernicious aspect of procrastination is that it can become a habit. We don’t just put off our lives today; we put them off till our deathbed.

Never forget: This very moment, we can change our lives. There never was a moment, and never will be, when we are without the power to alter our destiny. This second we can turn the tables on Resistance.

This second, we can sit down and do our work.”
― Steven Pressfield, The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks & Win Your Inner Creative Battles

You have that fire inside of you. You have the ability to summon your inner Warrior Woman and push through the procrastination, the inner critic and voices of self-judgement, so that you can do what you need to, whether that’s sitting down and writing that book, or slowing down and investing time in self-care.

One way to activate your inner Warrior Woman is through drum & dance. All of our ancestors used the medicine of drumming and dancing for so much more than entertainment. If you are on this planet right now it is a testament that your ancestors were survivors, innovative, strong, intuitive, passionate… Otherwise they would have been taken out somewhere in 300,000 years by illness, drought, famine, war or wild animals and you wouldn’t be here right now.

To activate the strength of your ancestors find some indigenous drumming music, whether it is African, Native North American or Japanese (there is lots of great drumming on youtube). Open to take the rhythms of the drums into your body and allow your body to be moved by the music, dancing like no one is watching and like nothing is too wild or tame. Bring breath of fire into your daily life.

I invite you to come and join a group of women on November 22, as we summon the Warrior Woman within during a 3-hour live Dundun Dancing event. (wanna see what it looks like, see youtube video below) I have studied this ancient medicine over the past decade while living on and off in West Africa. I am happy to share it with you.
