Dear Beautiful,
Thank you for being part of my community and part of my world. It truly means so much to me to be able to share with you.
It’s been a whole year since I began creating a video that would share my story of encountering the medicine of dance at a young age. For the first time I am going very public with my story of being assaulted as a youth, and overcoming that experience with dance.
I’m incredibly excited as the video also features live footage of my dance experience in Guinea, West Africa that I have never shared! I spent great lengths of time studying intensely in Guinea, and I think you will see how hard we were worked!!!
I would be honoured if you take a moment to watch this video. Please share with your sisters and women friends. Most women have experienced some form of assault, and many of the women around you likely have a story tucked away beneath the shame or the hurt. It is my sincere hope that by telling our stories we will create a culture where all people can feel safe to report and share these incidences when they happen. It was almost 20 years before I told my story for the first time.
Honouring you and your journey,
Love,
